<p>This initiative is targeted to recent Phase I and Phase II awardees. NJSBDC’s goal is to support and facilitate the commercialization of SBIR and STTR developed technologies leading to job creation and economic impact.  Following this initial meeting, attendees will be able to request to present their business plans and commercialization strategies and challenges to a Commercialization Mentoring Team.  The team(s) will be comprised of seasoned venture development professionals including a business attorney, accountant, successful entrepreneur, investor, marketing professional and one or two others.   Presenting companies will interact with team members and receive guidance and feedback on their plans and strategies, as well as suggestions for moving forward.  Mentoring sessions will begin by early spring.  Registration for the February 10 meeting is $15 in advance and $30 after 12:00 pm 2/9/12. <p>In 1982 Mr. Casabona was the founder and CEO of <strong>Electro-Radiation Inc.</strong> (ERI) of Fairfield, New Jersey, a developer of Navigation and Communications technology for the Defense Industry. In 1998 he was awarded the <strong>National Tibbetts Award,</strong> which recognizes contributions to the U.S. Science and Technology industry. In 2010 he was awarded the <strong>Financier of the Year Award</strong> from the New Jersey technology Council.  In 2004, he sold ERI to <strong>Honeywell International</strong>, where until 2007 he continued to provide management and technical guidance as its Director of Electronic Protection, Defense and Space Systems (D&amp;S) Business Unit in Morristown, New Jersey.</p>
<p>Mr. Casabona serves as a <strong>Commissioner on the New Jersey Commission on Science and Technology</strong>. He is the <strong>Chairman of Jumpstart NJ Angel Network</strong>; Board member of the New Jersey AOC Chapter (a national defense industry association); <strong>Chairman Emeritus of the Research and Development Council of New Jersey</strong>; appointed by former Governor James E. McGreevey to the Jobs Growth and Economic Development Commission; and serves on <strong>The New Jersey Economic Development Authority Technology Advisory Board (TAB) and The Clean Technology Advisory Committee (CTAC)</strong>. He is also on the advisory board of <strong>Fairleigh Dickinson University Rothman Institute for Entrepreneurial Studies</strong>; <strong>Stevens Institute of Technology Environmental Entrepreneurship Lab;</strong> <strong>Seton Hall University Entrepreneurial Studies</strong>; and the <strong>Meadowlands Business Accelerator</strong>. He is a founding member of the <strong>NJ Italy Trade Council</strong> and an active member of <strong>NJ Technology Council</strong>, <strong>IEEE</strong>, and <strong>Venture Association of NJ</strong>.  Mr. Casabona also serves on the Boards of several private companies and non-for-profit organizations, is often quoted in mainstream and trade press outlets, and is a frequent guest speaker and panelist at University and Professional events.</p>

<p><strong>MONROE TOWNSHIP, N.J. (June 11, 2010)</strong> – The New Jersey Technology Council (NJTC), the premier membership trade organization in the region supporting technology companies, awarded honors in four categories to financial executives in the technology community at the annual CFO of the Year Awards Breakfast.</p>
<p>The event, held at the Forsgate Country Club, was an opportunity to honor executives who, according to Maxine Ballen, CEO and president of the NJTC, do not get their share of recognition all year long. “Financial executives are the unsung heroes of our technology community. They make the tough decisions that often are not popular, but they are the life of our member companies.”</p>
<p>Ronald Berg, formerly executive vice president of CoreLab Partners, Inc. was the keynote speaker. At the end of his presentation, Berg announced he was retiring from CoreLab to spend more time with family.</p>
<p>Awards were given in four categories: CFO of the Year, Hall of Fame, Financier of the Year and Deal of the Year.</p>
<p>And the winners are:</p>
<p><strong>CFO of the Year:</strong> Keith Wilson, PAETEC. Finalists: Amanda Eilian, The Talk Market, Inc., and Dr. Padma Allen, TechnoDyne LLC; The award was sponsored by Cushman &amp; Wakefield, Inc.</p>
<p><strong>Hall of Fame: </strong>George Parise, CFO of Aton Pharma, Inc. Finalists: Connie Claman Liberty Science Center, and John Henneman, Integra Life Sciences. The award was sponsored by The CFO Alliance and RSM McGladrey.</p>
<p><strong>Deal of the Year:</strong> Geoff Lapres, CFO TimeSight Systems, Inc. Finalists: Steven Lesiak, Lux BioSciences, Inc., and Susan Lutz, ETSec, Inc. The award was sponsored by PNC Bank.</p>
<p><strong>Financier of the Year:</strong> Mario Casabona, Casabona Ventures, LLC. Finalists: Bill Carson, Hudson Ventures, and Robert Rosenberg, New Venture Partners, LLC.</p>
